Drive sampler (RKR)
Continuous coring is more and more required based on national Standards defining the criteria for taking samples in unconsolidated soils including testing of the change-over to hard rock formations, the procedure, the core quality as well as the core treatment. For taking samples in consolidated gravelly soils the drive sampler which is driven into the soil by means of a pneumatic drive hammer has been standing the test. The Nordmeyer drive sampler RKR can do without a compressor and without a strong pulling winch.
Functioning
The drive sampler RKR is inserted into the drill string or the hollow stem auger string by means of the cable guided RKR catching device, then unlatched and is falling down in free fall on the bottom of the borehole. The drive sampler is driven into the soil by the cable percussion device. After drilling over of the 1 m drive sampler length the drive sampler is retracted by the RKR catching device.
