Nordmeyer geothermal rigs are drilling rigs of the approved DSB series which have been standing the test for many years.
The powerhead on the mast of the drilling rig combined with the hydr. breakout wrench and the hydr. chuck are the basis required for operation of a double power head.
Depending on the customer's special requirements the rigs can be equipped with stand-by compressor, centrifugal pump, piston pump, eccentric screw pump etc.
Functioning
The double powerhead is enabling operation of a "double drill string", i.e. a drillpipe string inside an outside casing string are drilled down simultaneously in the same direction of rotation.
Additionally drillpipes and casings can telescope by means of the double powerhead. Drill cuttings are lifted in the annular space between the two drill strings and discharged into a special container by means of a discharge hose, enabling the best drilling progress without any flushing losses. As soon as the overburden has been drilled off, the double powerhead is laid down, and drilling can be continued by the inside drill string in the well know flushing method.
